There's a huge quality difference between
Japanese vs Chinese / Indian ebonite.
the biggest issues i noticed with chinese / Indian ebonite is as follows:
1. lots of contaminants
2. lots of pits and micro-cracks
3. more nasty smell
Japanese high quality ebonite material does have the above problems as well.
However, the frequency of the problems I experienced is literally 100 times less.
(I have experience with Indian / Chinese Ebonite as well, although I don't use them anymore)
